piping hot
Well my house has been a bit of a war zone the last week. i was just supposed to be having some electrical work done but then it also became a plumbing week as well. Big thanks to Macca, Pete and Sammy who helped bring our 50 year + wiring and plumbing up to more modern levels. I don't think i have posted a shot from my 50mm prime before. So here is some plumbing oxy action. This is the only lens i have with f2.8 so i really helped in the low light.

Whoa! This is awesome. Not sure I'd want to be that close to the tip of a torch with my eye behind a viewfinder.
nev: Maybe that explains all the white blotches i am seeing.
Good interesting shot
nev: interesting experience
I can almost feel the heat from here, Neal! That's the only bad thing about old buildings--the wiring and plumbing eventually need to be changed out. What a job!
nev: Not one i would like to have done on a regular basis Ginnie. The plumbing fun continues.
great detail... good luck with the house...
nev: thanks and the house will get there. cheers
Great shot Nev.
nev: thank you bridge
Like the way you've hung on to the shadow detail with all that light bouncing about.
nev: I wanted to use natural light so that i could see when the beams had caught on fire.
I absolutely adore this bruv. I had a similar job to do last year and it took me almost all of the year to do as I had to replace almost everything and it cost me a fortune !
nev: That sounds terrible johnny. i am lucky my wife has a large family and a few tradies in the mix.
Exciting picture! Goes to my likeys.
nev: i am honored thanks frank
I find the EXIF very interesting here, since I am experimenting with light shots myself on an on and off basis. Also the fact that you required f2.8 to low light into what I remember as a very bright light. Excellent result.
I also love how you put your 3 sons Macca, Pete and Sammy to work. It will make worthwhile gentlemen of them one day. Handy little tykes.
nev: The light is bright Louis and i was metering as best i could off the flame but with no spot meter on this beast it is a little difficult at times.
Yeah my six year old on the oxy, 3 year year old on the angle grinder and ring-in on the earth leakage caper. I am planning my retirement as we speak. cheers Louis
Ace shot !!
nev: thanks shakara
This is a great industrial shot!
nev: cheers Martin.
Super shot Neal, another one you should get into a library
nev: very kind sir but which section would it go in fiction or non-fiction.
Very well photographed Neal. If I remember correctly, in answer to Louis, blue light is low light and low colour temp, hence a wide aperture and slow shutter speed? Well done mate. kind regards, Neil.
nev: Thanks Welsh Neil much appreciated. has your singing voice improved now that you're not in SA?
Astonishing detail here, I like the way the flame can be seen wrapping itself round the pipe, and all the colours too.
Goodluck with your renovations
nev: The plumbing continues. For the moment we are using a camping water container in the kitchen for a couple of days until we get rid of the dodgy old plumbing there. you forget how reliant we become on water
P.S I'l go with Chris's comment, a physics library might be good too
nev: Do they have a fiction/non fiction section too ellie. teehee thanks ellie
Fantastic Nev. You've go really nice and realistic colors here. And the result is artistic too !
nev: i didn't process the colours Roland mainly just a crop, a levels adjustment and some unsharp mask thanks
Fabulous shot!
nev: thanks Ray (nev from the land of shiney pipes)
yes - great idea taking photographic evidence of each joint, you'll be able to to take legal action when they leak!.. lol
lovely shot. mal
nev: is that overreacting by capturing each solder?
Great idea! I like the colours a lot.
nev: late repy i know but thanks for that
This is absolutely fantastic, Nev. Excellent exposure of a very tricky subject. All the best, Dave
nev: I aprreciate that David thanks
Very nice effect, Nev
nev: thanks Kay
A good idea Nev wich gives a really unusual picture - Great !!
nev: cheers zeb
Great angles and colours. Hope you were protecting your eyes!
