The Journey
Just taken a few days to go down to Dubbo Zoo in New South Wales. We drove around 2100 kms return so it was a big drive but the zoo was great and was worth the trip. We travelled via the New England Highway which is high country and is mostly farming and agricultural land. Map
I did get a few chances to take shots whilst we were travelling and this shot is a prelude to a short series of landscape shots i took whilst travelling at 100 km an hour. They are not in chronological order and i think this one was near Coonabarabran. Hope you have a nice weekend.

Great shot, I hope that there was some nice kind person who cleaned the windscreen for you.
nev: The days of service stations are gone. It was up to me to remove the entomology collection off the windscreen.
Hi Neve - good shot but the one thing you don't say about taking this whilst travelling at 100km/h is whether you were driving the car.... I trust not?
nev: one foot on steering wheel, one hand on shutter and other on the windscreen trying to remove bugs. no time to stop ... must get to zoo. cheers
What is that stuff on the windscreen, I have a vague memory of what it's called.
nev: they call it precipitous in NSW. We have a slightly different genus in QLD called non-existus.
I hope that camper was not too thirsty Neal? And the surf board must have really come in handy as a picknic table.
I love the mood of the image! It has a real Paris Texas road house feel, very atmospheric. great shot. mal
nev: The camper did fine but was getting the speed wobbles after 80 km/h. The surf board did come in handy as a card table but the Vegemite sandwiches kept tasting like wax. Must watch Paris Texas again but have to get the coathanger tv aerial fixed. cheers mal
Mal cracks me up but he's also right !
J
nev: Don't pay too much attention to that Mal fellow. He doesn't know how to drive a column shift campervan. Wiper blades are for wimps Johnny.
I like your vignetting (correct tecnical term?) - really emphasises the B movie feel to the image. Great photo. Mike
nev: Thanks Mike i was trying to keep a feeling of mystery to the shot
The best bug macro possible. Catch it the moment when it starts hitting the windscreen - just when the little face starts to impact. Since you don't get rain in Oz those things on the windscreen must be the famous shiney bugs?
Another very excellent picture nev - the idea opens up so many possibilities (not only the squashing bug). It put blurries in another dimension. You have quite an imagination or is this what the distance does to you? To me likeys
nev: I must have some buddhist in me Louis, despite the opportunities to take some insect war shots something in me says not that is just not right.
The distance and cold weather must have been freezing up the cogs a bit. Again i am honoured that it goes to your likeys. It has placed me with a dilemna of whether or not to post a particular shot that i was going to print but not post. I think i will end the series on that shot though. cheers Louis.
Mr C. You really do have a knack of making something great out of nothing. Your style of driving reminds me of the taxi drivers in joburg, only they don't bother with steering wheels, they use a vice grip on the steering column instead!! Super shot Neal. You also have a great weekend. Kind regards, Neil.
nev: Thanks Neil for your kind words. You know what it is like, trying to develop new styles and see things differently. Certainly i would like to see a shot of a taxi driver with a a vice grip. Thats what is missing from shutter. cheers Neil
liking it, very arty and blurred...
nev: thanks Sam blurred is how i like it
On the road again, Neal !
nev: I can't wait to get back on the road again .
Yay, off on an adventure.
nev: I thought the drive home should is meant to be shorter. went down in one day back in three.
love this picture, Nev.
Reminds me very much of the images I used to take with my box brownie about 50 years ago...does your digi-camera have a setting for "Box brownie clone"?
nev: At the moment i have my Mother in Laws box brownie and trying to decide how to use it the way i want. thanks Ray
100% love thise, awesome Nev
Suby
nev: cheers Suby. Not much processing apart from a mono conversion.
I absolutely love road shots Nev. This looks like a really promising series. looking forward to all the others.
Hummm. I do like that... So simple but so nicely done !
Like it too !
how did you managed to change your screen setting like that
nev: you might be talking about the new templates yeni. it is in your preferences you change it to minimalist style. see the forums for more info
this one is stunning..speaks to me of journeys and perspectives..
