Columbia has landed
A departure in style from my previous well received (hehe) shot to something a little more pedestrian. For those of you who dont know this is a mangrove flower.

Love the title. I have to know, did you come across it like this or was it placed here? Either way it makes for an interesting/eyecatching shot. Love the dof on this.
nev: My son found it like this somewhere up the beach and i took a bit of poetic licence and moved it down to the damp end of the beach. cheers aus
Such an education to be had on SC! I would not have been able to identify that bloom in a police line-up...but now I can. Man!...will they be surprised next time I am called in to make an id at the local police station!
Interesting shot, nev; I might have been tempted to lay on my belly in the water and get a real low angle [and maybe try out the water-proofing prowess of my trusty 300D]....but, heck, what would I know!
nev: If they are bringing you in to id flowers ray i would start to worry if they offer you a room with cushions on the walls.
that's no flower Neal! That's an alien baby Aussie hat with corks, in its embryo stage, just waiting for a host to leap upon and suck the life out of them! This explains much about the Aussie race!
nev: doesn't sound like you have a cork hat Mal. you seem to have found out our secret. what's your address so i can send you one.
When I was there I saw blue bottles on the beach. Same shape - different colour. LOL
Very thoughtful of you to color the focal point red so we can find it
One could really use their imagination with this one, Neal!!
Nice contrast in colours, being picky i would have sent it a bit further left field
They've landed at last?
Great shot, very interesting and eye catching
Nev this is a unusual but fun photograph. It certainly makes you look at it to figure out what it is that red thing, well is. Flower, alien? lol. Great work.
