Fly on little wing
Thanks for all the well wishes on the last shot. I finally got to take the camera out of the bag but came home with over 70 shots of the same tree. Here is one of the non tree shots.

But you were sitting in that tree with the long lens! right? lol
Very nice to see you Mr! And with an ethereal, moody blockbuster! Top shot mate. mal
nev: Man: Is your uh, is your wife interested in... photography, ay? 'Photographs, ay', he asked him knowlingly?
Squire: Photography? Man: Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more? Squire: Holiday snaps, eh? Man: They could be, they could be taken on holiday. Candid, you know, CANDID photography? Squire: No, no I'm afraid we don't have a camera. Thanks Mr Mood.
They didn't move very far in 11 seconds did they?
Ditto Mal ... but do we get to see the tree?
nev: i wish i could ask time to stand still but don't quite have that magic but you are right they did not get far.
Love this shot Neal.
I suppose the secret to this shot was that you were only in water that was just over ankle deep.
nev: Thanks Kate. Are you interested in photography?
A lovely oil painting...as might be created by a 97 year old man with palsy and only 2 colours on his palette. [grin]
Seriously... a fine [non-tree]image, nev, that says much about the languid nature of sailing in a confined and possibly sheltered space...slows the heartbeat and the metabolic processes.
nev: Well you picked the duotoning Ray but not sure i have palsy yet but i do drool in my sleep after i drink too much does that count.
Excellent picture with atmosphere. Ghost riders on a boat.
Crossing the Στυξ (Styx) with Charon at the steering? Glad that you missed the boat and we can have you for a few moments.
nev: I wish i knows me Greek Mythology like you Louis. A wonderful metaphor. I was thinking of the album cover of an Ali Farka Toure album when i took this shot. If you don't have a copy and you like kora music then you absolutely must get a copy of "In the Heart of the Moon". One of my favourites. thanks Louis.
Very nice ghosty atmosphere ! Artistic sense here !
nev: Thank you Zeb. I was trying to capture sailing ghosts but had to settle for sailing people.
Did you have a nd filter on? Just curious how it was achieved if it was bright Qld sunshine. Like the smooth sea.
nev: Yes Aus. This was Lake Cootharaba and it was overcast on the weekend. I used an nd400. If it wasn't overcast i would not have been able to get 11 seconds out of the shot at around 4 in the afternoon.
I see there is quite a crowd growing around these movement shots, Neal.
nev: it was pretty quiet where i was ginnie heehee thanks ginnie
Beautiful shot. Emotional and delicate.
nev: thanks kathryn
Hi Neal; they must have knocked that tree into a boat during the long exposure then?
nev: here is one i prepared earlier. cheers chris.
I think that the tree was submerged, this is a forrest shot!
nev: leaf me alone heehee thanks for seeing the forest for all the trees.
The only thing it's missing is a tree.
nev: i will post one of those trees eventually but at the moment they taunt me processing wise. cheers
Nothing wrong with a tree shot Neal...as long as you dont blog them all 70!
Lovely moody photo today..a likey for me. Petra
nev: at the moment i have trouble deciding on 1 to post so there is no way i will put you through the pain of 70. thanks very much for the likey petra.
very evocative - reminds me of happy days with my little boat
nev: There was a beautiful hand made new zealand boat there which unfortunately was not under sail when i had the camera so i did not get a capture of it. it truly would have evoked more of those images paul. it did for me i i never owned a trailer sailer.
Great shot. I like the strange atmosphere
nev: thanks richard. strange is how i like it.
I see the blur takes over our shutter
I read in your response Louis. I'm glad you like Ali Farka Toure. I've been his fan for years, and got all his albums I can put my hands on here in the US. Check my About page, I put him there. Too bad the guy is gone. He was in his prime. If you like kora, you got to dig for Toumani Diabate (who plays kora on Farka Toure's album). He formed the Symmetric Orchestra not long ago, where he explores new directions in music. His collaboration with Taj Mahal was really interesting. I thouroghly enjoyed his experiments with a Spanish flamenco band Ketama on the Songhai CD. It was so hard to find this album.
a modern version of Phlegyas on the River Styx...
There's something weird about this, I know what I see but in my head I see a feluccas and this not an Australian Lake but the Nile and it's not now but the 1930's! Those ghostly figures seem to add to the illusion. The more I look, the more it draws me in.
Oh I missed this one ! What a pity (for me of course). I like the peaceful atmosphere here and the work you did there too !
